The company group has its origin in 1988, when Martin Erl together with Manfred Munz and Horst Zettl founded the specialist welding shop ERL GmbH Schweissen + Schneiden.

In 2000, ERL received the factory representation of a French manufacturer of aluminum filler materials. For this purpose, a new company was founded, MIG WELD GmbH International. In 2017, it was renamed MIGAL.CO GmbH and since then has had its own production for aluminum wires and rods. The shareholders are Martin Erl, Martin Stefan Erl and Robert Lahnsteiner.

Due to the positive developments of own systems in the field of automation technology and cutting technology, these areas were seperated from ERL GmbH in 2006 and therefore a new company was founded - ERL Automation GmbH, with Martin Erl and Martin Stefan Erl as shareholders.
