Foundation of ERL Automation GmbH
In the year 2006 ERL Automation GmbH was established as a system house for welding automation, CNC cutting machines and robot systems - the third member of the erl group.

2006
Sale of ESAB gantry cutting machines (until 2012)
Already from the year 2000 on, ESAB and ERL cooperated in the field of CNC gantry cutting machines. Initially the sale of cutting machines belonged to our parent company ERL GmbH Schweissen + Schneiden. When, in the year 2006, the branch automation of welding and cutting was disincorporated and ERL Automation was founded, this line of business moved on to the new company.
2007
Development of the first robot system for plasma cutting
2007 the first robot for chamfering workpieces was delivered to the compnay Kinshofer. Back then, plasma cutting was unknown territory for ERL Automation. This machine was for the purpose they asked for very adequate and works still today.

2009
Time of birth of the robot cutting system BIBER
When the first robot system for plasma cutting was delivered in the year 2007, the foundations for the robot cutting system BIBER were formed. The machine was tremendously developed further so that 2009 the first software for chamfering with robots was completed.
2012
Sale of Koike portal cutting machines (until 2015)
After 12 years of successfull cooperation with ESAB Cutting Systems, due to their restructuring there was no more a right place for the dsitribution method of ERL Automation GmbH. Amongst other things, standardized machines became more important. Because of that, customer wishes and requirements could no longer be realized. Therefore ERL Automation GmbH switched to KOIKE Engineering Germany.

Introduction of the robot cutting system BIBER at the fair "Schweissen & Schneiden"
Already 2010 ERL Automation GmbH obtained commissions for the robot cutting system BIBER from the companies Lehnhoff in Baden Baden and Schäfer Menk in Prague and Pilsen, which helped to optimize the system further. Eventually a demonstration cell was built, which was introduced for the first time 2013 at the fair SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN in Essen to the audience of specialists.

Introduction of the first own portal cutting machine erlcut
The cooperation with Koike was disturbed abruptly mid-2014, since important confidants left the company Koike and Koike Engineering Germany was incorporated into the headquartes in the Netherlands. Through that, the cooperation didn't become easier and the possibilities to meet costumers wishes went down. As a consequence it was decided to go seperate ways in the future.
Through the assembled team and acquired knowledge with many years of experience, ERL Automation GmbH made the decision to develop and build their own portal cutting machine - the erlcut.

Presentation of the camera system intelliplace
2017 the robot cutting system BIBER was expanded by a very important component - the camera system intelliplace. While, so far, the location of the elements on the table had to be measured and entered by hand and then the manual selection and allocation of the corrresponding cutting programmes could take place, with intelliplace these working steps can be taken over by the BIBER. Because of that the user not only benifits from a substantial saving of time but also from the reduction of manual errors on the part of the operators.

Introduction of the system concept erlct-silent
During plasma cutting, noise emissions up to 110 db(A) can occur, depending on the sheet thickness. This is severely above the permissible activation threshold of 80 db(A), where according to the regulations of health and safety at the workplace, precautions for ear proetction have to be taken. The whole cutting area of the system concept erlcut-silent is situated in a sound insulating cabinet. In this way, the noise can be reduced by more than 30 db(A).

Market launch of the BIBER.3000
So far, the cutting system BIBER was designed for elements up to 2,000 mm of depth. Because of the wider range of the BIBER.3000 also users with extra big elements can benefit from the economically effective cutting system for automatic weld seam preperation.

Portal cutting system erlcut expanded by drilling system and bevel aggregate
The new erlcut bevel aggregate is designed for chamfering on flat material. With that, simple elements which have chamfers as well as vertical cutting edges can be cut out of the metal sheet in one step. The plasma rotator provides up to 40 mm long chamfers with angles between 0° and +/- 50°.
The fully automatic drill spindle elrcut-drill expands the portal cutting system with the processing steps drilling, threading and countersinking. Through the combination of cutting and drilling in one system, the users benefit from a reduced production time and simplified handling.

Launch of new BIBER software for chamfering of 3D-elements
With our BIBER, chamfers or split cuts can not only be attached on flat material but also on three-dimensional workpieces. It can be worked on elements like container floors, edge parts or rolled parts without extensive teaching . This is made possible by the 3D-.step-import.

The erl group welding & cutting has been honoured as a "Top Company of Lower Bavaria". With this award, the Niederbayern-Forum e.V. association, together with the districts and independent towns, honours those companies that stand out due to their outstanding performance and special commitment.
